Georgia Tech and Virginia meet in an ACC encounter on ESPN's Thursday night football. Georgia Tech is wearing throwback uniforms from 1969-1971 but that may be the most interesting thing about this game. Virginia is a whisker away from being 0-3, with an overtime win at home over Wyoming sandwiched by an opening blowout loss at Pitt and a home loss to MAC entrant Western Michigan. . After getting blasted at Pitt they returned home for an OT 13-12 win against Wyoming before struggling to a home loss against Western Michigan. Despite a less than challenging schedule the Wahoos are running for only 51 yards per game. Georgia Tech may be poised for a blowout, but remember that last week the Yellow Jackets were 14-14 with Troy State before pulling away late.  Georgia Tech is gaining 5.6 yards per play and allowing 4.0.  Virginia is gaining only 3.6 yards per play and permitting opponents to go for 5.0 yards per play.  Tech WR Calvin Johnson will probably play after suffering a leg contusion early against Troy State.  If Johnson plays he'll be the best player on the field by a wide margin.   Tech should roll if coach Chan Dailey is of the mind do so, as Virginia coach Al Groh's contention that this is a rebuilding year is proving to be quite accurate.  Georgia Tech is superior in every major statistical category and if they are hitting on all cylinders the 17 points may prove to be a cheap lay in this potential mismatch.
