Shark Attack: Dogs Having Their Day In NFL

Keep an eye on the dogs the rest of this fall this fall in the NFL.  NFL underdogs have been coming on strong in recent weeks. You probably know that last year was huge for favorites, cashing at a 58% clip. The chalk was winning again early this season. But, lately, underdogs have been living up to past standards. In fact, a 10-4 ATS mark this past weekend brought the full season mark to 54% underdogs.

Don't lay points unless you're very confident of a peak performance from your team. In this sport, taking favorites has traditionally been swimming upstream. Looks like the water's going to run that way again for a while. In particular, look for situations where favorites may not be as focused as they should. Both Chicago and the NY Giants struggled versus expectations as big favorites last weekend. They were probably looking ahead to this Sunday Night's big TV showdown against each other, a possible NFC championship preview.

It wouldn't be a bad idea now to run through the rest of each team's schedule and circle top priority games. If a team is favored in a game that isn't circled, you may have uncovered a potentially flat performance.
